The International School Singapore provides an international education
to about 470 students from over 45 nationalities. Students may leave
the school with international or American school credentials or
both. As well as promoting high academic standards, the school's
mission is to develop international co-operation and understanding
among its students. The school offers the IB Diploma, an IGCSE programme
and a US diploma program. The school has a fully authorized International
Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) and Primary Years Program
(PYP).
An intensive ESL programme is offered from Beginner level to Advanced
level. French, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese are taught as foreign
languages and Japanese and Mandarin are also available as a first
language. Specialists are available in reading and resource and
the counselling staff includes a college counsellor and a counsellor
for Japanese students.
Teaching staff at International School Singapore, are required
to hold a degree and teaching certification in their subject area
and should have more than two years of classroom experience. The
school calendar runs from August to the end of June. The school
closes for all major vacations and all Singapore public holidays.
Students may graduate at the end of the First Semester (December)
or Second Semester (June).
A wide range of extra-curricular activities is offered at the International
School Singapore. This includes soccer, rugby, cricket, basketball,
scuba diving, tennis, bowling, field trips, yearbook, band, drama
and community service. An annual Sports Day and Swimming Gala are
also held, along with various school concerts and performances throughout
the year
In addition to fully air-conditioned classrooms, the High School
comprises four science laboratories, one computer laboratory, two
art rooms, a music room, a conference room, a multi-purpose hall,
a library equipped with Internet and student work stations, and
two outdoor courts.
The Middle School consists of a science laboratory, computer laboratory,
art room, music room and multi-purpose hall. It shares the library
and outdoor soccer field with the Elementary School.
The Elementary School facilities comprise an art room, music room
and multi-purpose hall. Each classroom has computing facilities.
The High School is located near the centre of the city in a beautiful
tropical setting. The Elementary and Middle Schools are near the
main commercial area.
A building project which will provide a brand new facility on one
site for all sections of the school is in hand.
